“And blessed are the meek,” 
 the Savior’s voice proclaimed, 
 “For earth shall be their heritage,” 
 His promise plainly named. 
 Woe unto the rich, 
 who scorn the humble cry — 
 for treasures laid on earth 
 do rust and fade and die. 
 “When ye are in the service 
 of your fellow beings here, 
 ye serve your God above,” 
 a truth forever clear. 
 But woe unto the wise 
 who in pride refuse to bend — 
 their wisdom turned to folly, 
 broken hearts to mend. 
 Yea, remember the poor; 
 do not let them plead in vain. 
 Extend to them your kindness, 
 soothe another’s pain. 
 For are we not all beggars 
 before our Father’s throne? 
 Dependent on His mercy, 
 we live not by bread alone. 
 Riches lead to pride, 
 and pride brings souls to fall — 
 but meekness lifts the humble, 
 God answers when they call. 
 Lay up your heavenly treasures, 
 compassion freely shown; 
 the heart of God rejoices 
 in the charity you’ve sown. 
 “The meek shall inherit the earth,” 
 thus the prophets say. 
 “Blessed are the humble ones,” 
 who follow heaven’s way. 
 If ye have wealth and wisdom, 
 heed your brother’s plight — 
 or see your riches vanish, 
 lost in darkest night. 
 Give freely unto others, 
 and judge them not in haste; 
 for mercy shown another, 
 by mercy is replaced. 
 The meek shall claim the kingdom — 
 this truth is ever sure: 
 humble hearts are richest, 
 and blessed are the pure.
